Subject: Important – changes to County Council’s communication channels for all Roads and Highway matters.
Dear Sir / Madam
I am writing to inform you of an important change regarding the County Council’s communication channels for highway matters. As part of our ongoing desire to streamline our highway service and provide more efficient communication methods for road users and residents, we will soon be transitioning to an online digital-by-default service. To support this change, we will be closing our roads@hants.gov.uk email account and instead only supporting online reporting via our website. The change will come into effect on 14 April 2025.
This transition is part of a broader corporate initiative to adopt more advanced and user-friendly digital tools that will allow us to serve our customers better. Our digital contact platform offers improved self-help features, provides faster responses, and gives our customers more up to date information at the first point of contact.
There will be some instances that the reporting tool doesn’t quite fit the issue or question being raised. In these situations, we recommend using the ‘Report a different problem’ option (Report something else to Hampshire County Council Highways | Transport and roads | Hampshire County Council) and our Customer Service team will ensure the enquiry gets to the correct team with minimal delay.
We also encourage utilising information available on our reporting landing page, including as planned maintenance or road safety, as well as external sites such as One.Network.
Please can you update your records and, from 14 April 2025, direct all further correspondence relating to highway issues to our website at https://www.hants.gov.uk/transport.
Kind Regards
Tim Lawton BEng CEng FICE FCIHT
